Why do you grow?

Pages:12

With limited legalization in America, and legal medical usage in even more states, I've watched a metamorphosis of the Cannabis Culture.

I'm an old dog; an old toad, and I remember America without legalization, and a low key, protective community.

Cannabis to me was folk medicine.

No one doubted that some people managed life better when they had it. I had the pleasure of coming up in the country, where Cannabis had never gained quite the same stigma as in more populated places. Country folks simply knew better. "Oh, he's just smokin' that Blue Smoke. Give him a minute and he'll be over here tellin' stories."

The Sheriff in my town was eventually arrested for a field of Prime Cannabis. Rude surprise it was for him too.  🙂

I started growing the plant out of simple curiosity, an easy availability of seeds from pressed commercial pot, and a lot of extra time on my hands. Of course, this was before the internet was a thing. I soon found out I could never grow enough to satisfy all the people who wanted it. As scraggly as it was, after a month or so hanging in an old tobacco barn, it put the seedy commercial pot to shame. I felt comfortable planting plants along trails in the woods near my house.

Being the soft hearted guy I was, I gave what I grew to a couple different people. A crotchety old Viet Name vet (the only other Polish guy in my neighborhood), an old lady a couple streets over in my development ( I sho' wish I had some of that ol' Blue Smoke, young man..."), and a couple others who asked. Never occurred to me to try to sell it.

That was around 30 years ago. I've still never sold Cannabis.

I have however, provided oil for sick people since I first watched Phoenix tears oil being made on Youtube with solvents and a rice cooker. As technology got better, so did I.

My passion is helping sick people with a strong desire to try Cannabis for their troubles, find access. I have spent much and gained little, but the gratitude I have been given has made it all worthwhile. Seeing a sick kid become a happy kid again is powerful medicine for a weary old soul.

I grow Cannabis (when I am able) because I have a sensitive soul, and I will always help when I am able. I respect authority, but I am not cowed. I think human rights trump politics every time.

Why do you grow Cannabis?  ( it's OK if you say "For them Dollar Bills, yo!" Just getting to know each other )

🙂

I myself have been smoking for the better part of 25 years at leas until last May when I stopped. About 10 years ago I guess out of curiosity I started planting seeds. From what was first curiosity came an obsession! I literally drowned myself with all types of literature, videos and even forums to get the most possible information I could on growing better medicine. I know my nonmedicating wife couldn't believe the amount of time I would study on the subject, but I belive now she fully understands and is on board.

Since then I have made it my duty to educate people on how a plant can truly be a gift from above. Being in a far right southern Baptist state, it can be hard at times.

I haven't grown a little over a year now due to living restrictions. Speaking for myself, not medicating was bad enough, but I find growing this beautiful plant for me to be more therapeutic than anything else.

Now here in the present I am no longer growing at the moment, but have plenty of knowledge on the skill set I have developed over the years. Where once was dwc with synthetics, my next move will be 100% organics. So that's why I am here today. To chat with like minded folks and to once again drowned myself with more knowledge on the organics side of growing! I truly look forward to gaining as much as possible and gaining new buds in the meantime..

Welcome! Funny how as a plant it can a capture the attention and fascinate, even non smokers. Sub's Supersoil system has allowed many, mant people to go organic. I don't know of a simpler way to make the transition. 🙂

Thanks!

I’m one, Subs super soil literally is the foundation that got me growing the way I do. Once you learn about SS and start learning organics and understanding what’s happening and how easy it truly is there’s no going back. Especially when you grow it that way the first time and produce weed better than anything any of your buddies got 🙂 lol

With side effects of growing a veggie garden with old soil, until you realize it can be reused in a notill practice. 🙂

Because I can!  Started growing my med's out of necessitate,  my growing family moved when the law changed.  I'm disabled since 1984, have the space, and Dr.s trying to put me back together.  making my first batch of SuperSoil today, so I'm just a newbie' to all this stuff.

For me its mostly pain relief.  With 3 accidents, 1 yrs apart for each, I have a lot of muscular pain.  Nature cures it way better then the med's I get prescribed!

Keep Smiling :>)

First batch of Supersoil! Oh, are you about to be a happy camper!

Subcool did the world a huge favor by dragging us all along on his quest to mix up the right basic ingredients to grow Dank out easily.

You will, in time, understand that he has introduced you to soil science and a healthy learning curve, as well, because soil growing can be as easy or complex as you want it to be, and BETTER MEDICINE is your reward for walking that path.  🙂

Very soon you will be wanting to experiment with as many strains as you can get your hands on, to find the medicine that addresses your needs as well as possible. Soil growing will open windows into possibility you don't currently realize are only cracked open. Better medicine is on it's way!  🙂

Welcome to the Supersoil family! 😀

I started growing when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I knew popping pills was hella more dangerous than smoking a J, so I went for it! I am a mother of two youngins and now we are breaking down the stigmas starting with them. This is medicine, and only medicine to me. I can't function like a normal human being without it. It's crazy that pain and disease lead me to find a hobby that I enjoy so fondly. Love to y'all! 🙂

An ex I cared very much about had MS. I gave her Betaseron injections when she won a lottery to receive them in it's testing phase. I had no idea how to give an injection, but learned very quickly. Kendy was her name, and Cannabis was certainly medicine for her, as well. I didn't know about Cannabis oil back then, but the skunk I was growing a couple counties away sure made her feel better.

I also took the same route to the plant, but from the reverse perspective; I saw so many people use it for medicine, and made my mind up before using it myself regularly. I breathe, I eat, and I grow Cannabis. Only now I'm in a place in my life where I cannot grow. I feel like I'm missing an arm. But it's still my hobby.  🙂

I dig the snot out of your IG. You got some healthy girls there! 🙂

I started to grow it to help people get quality medicine because our market here on the east coast is saturated with poisoned flowers from the West all in the name of profits.... the more people i can teach to do the same I am doing the faster we will get rid of this saturation of TRASH in our marketplace here in MASS

Yeah, sad to see the trash from out west filling our streets, huh? Pesticides, pests, and walmart weed that mostly tastes suspiciously the same.

I was very athletic my entire life. I started boxing at 5 years old, started to wrestle folkstyle, freestyle and greco roman at age 7 with 2 state titles by the time I ended wrestling and started to study/compete in submisson grappling and later Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I owned a successful mma gym in mid west and made a few local circuit champions in mma. I had always used cannabis during my competitive grappling years, therapeutically, because does works for so many different ailments, so I was very familiar with the plant. One day November 2014, I woke up with extreme pain shooting from my lumbar to my heel of my right leg. From November 2014 to June 2016 I was put on opiates to control the pain but yet went undiagnosed still. Those 2 years are still a blur and the darkest point of my life.  The abuse of opiates then took over and I became a monster. I had to sell the gym, adjust to a new lifestyle, find the problem with my back, I mean my life had been completely altered. My wife then suggests that we move back to California for medical marijuana therapy to get me off all pharmaceuticals. We start the trip from South Dakota to Cali and stop off in Colorado and I buy meds flowers, vape oil, topical. I get to the hotel and get the medicine in me and felt immediate relief I had not had in 2 years straight of pain. My wife and I had a baby girl in 2015 and I never held her until that day because my crippling condition. As soon as we get to Cali I get my Dr recommendation and start with withdrawal off all pharmaceuticals drugs I was taking. I know what what is wrong with my too. I have severe lumbar spinal stenosis in both legs, 3 herniated discs, and multiple sclerosis. I remember a woman named Mary Jean or aka Brownie Mary growing up as a teen in bay area, she use to hand out cannabrownies to aids and cancer patients and I felt that I can help someone if I grow....that's why I grow, for my brother and sister patients that are in the fight for their lives.

Thanks for sharing CannabisCowBoy,    Start your garden, it's great therapy!  Tell TheEnvee it's OK out west, usually :>)

Glad to hear from ya!

People are finding surprising relief from all sorts of ailments with Cannabis, and even the mots die hard denier is finding it hard to argue these days.

Funny how Cannabis and Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling always seem to go together, isn't it?  🙂  You find a jitsu player and you probably found a buzz. LOL

Glad you got a handle on things and a brighter future is opening up to you! Your story is more common than many think. 🙂

I don't think he meant the West sucks, I think he meant only the trash from out west makes it to the prohibition states. The decent herb finds a market before it gets to us.
